More Fake News: Twitter’s “Unreal” Tender Offer
As Jeff Werbitt blogged last month, the SEC uncovered the dude who perpetuated the fake takeover rumors regarding Avon. The con artist was Bulgarian and used techniques to make it look like the “story” appeared on Bloomberg’s website. Yesterday, as noted in this article, the same techniques were used to perpetuate fake rumors about a takeover of Twitter (except that no SEC filing was involved) – apparently this time the hoax originated in Panama.
