The entanglement of business & politics is emerging as a new category of business risk. There are a surprising number of different dimensions of political speech that a board needs to monitor, in addition to managing that risk as well. Join these experts:

  • James Andrus, Investment Manager for Global Equity, CalPERS
  • Bruce Dravis, Outside Counsel, Downey Brand LLP
  • Erin Lama, Associate, Politicom Law LLP
  • Richard Levick, Chair & CEO, Levick

Among other topics, this program will cover:

  1. Financial contributions to candidates or causes
  2. Contributions to non-profits that may have a political dimension (e.g. Planned Parenthood)
  3. Advertising or other communications that address social issues
  4. Promotional activities that can take on political attributes (e.g. NRA group discounts)
  5. Company operations or product offerings that connect to a current political issue
  6. How a company responds to shareholder proposals to take a stand on political issues
  7. Advertising on a controversial media platform
