FAQs about CLE

To earn CLE credit for this Conference, please read these FAQs carefully:

  1. Is CLE Credit available for watching the video webcast?
  2. It depends. You cannot earn CLE credit unless the state bar allows it for your state and we have applied for CLE accreditation for this webcast. Check this list of CLE States to see if your state is one of those (and how many credits are available).

If your state is not listed, you can’t earn CLE credit for this webcast. If you have CLE questions, send them to cle@thecorporatecounsel.net.

  3. Can I earn CLE credit for watching the archive of the video webcast?
  4. Not likely. Many state bars tell us that you must watch this webcast live and not by archive. Please check with your individual state bar to determine whether they will accept viewing the archived version as 'self-study.' If you have CLE questions, send them to cle@thecorporatecounsel.net.

  5. What are the "prompts" that pop-up during the video webcast?
  6. To comply with certain state bar requirements, we have built a system whereby those in states where this webcast is accredited and want to earn CLE will need to click through a series of periodic prompts (i.e. about every 15-20 minutes) to prove they sat through the webcast.

The periodic prompts - in the form of a "pop-up" box - will stay on your screen for about 1 minute each time it shows up. Our system records whether you clicked on prompt throughout the webcast. This is what the state bar uses as verification that the attorney attended and for how long. If you have CLE questions, send them to cle@thecorporatecounsel.net.

  7. If I'm looking for CLE credit within a state that I know doesn't require periodic prompts, do I have to be hassled with it?
  8. No. If you're looking for CLE credit that doesn't require time-stamped type proof (and you're absolutely certain of that your state bar doesn't require it - for example, Minnesota) and instead your state bar only requires that you attest you attended, you don't have to be burdened with our periodic prompt system.

Rather, you can watch the webcast (live if that is what the state bar requires) without clicking the "Earn CLE Credit" link and filling out the application, etc. Then, all you need to do is email us that you watched, along with your contact information, bar states and bar numbers. We can then send you a CLE Certification if you are registered for the Conference. If you have CLE questions, send them to cle@thecorporatecounsel.net.

  9. Can I view the webcast from a conference room and still earn CLE?
  10. Nearly all states require that lawyers watch from their own computer so they can prove they are watching live by clicking periodic prompts - so you can't watch from conference rooms unless you bring your own computer in the conference room. If you have CLE questions, send them to cle@thecorporatecounsel.net.

  11. How will I be able to sign in for CLE credit if I watch the webcast from my own computer?
  12. Once you enter your Conference ID/password, just click on the prominent link (in the red box) that will take you to an online sign-in form. You will see the online CLE link in the red box when you first click on a link that takes you to the video webcast. If you have CLE questions, send them to cle@thecorporatecounsel.net.

  13. How do I receive a CLE certificate?
  14. For those that filled out our online sign-in form (and met the other eligibility requirements, like the proper state), we will mail a CLE certificate to you after the Conference. Note it will take us a while to get them out, at least a few weeks. If you have CLE questions, send them to cle@thecorporatecounsel.net.

  15. What should I do if the state I seek credit for is listed in your list as "pending"?
  16. If you seek CLE credit for one of the few states where our application is pending, you should sign-in for the prompt system in case they approve the Conference. If you have CLE questions, send them to cle@thecorporatecounsel.net.

  17. Can I earn CLE credit if I only watch a portion of the Conference?
  18. Yes, if your state bar allows for it (and most state bars allow for it). If you can only watch a portion of the Conference, you can still earn CLE credit for the amount of time watched (assuming you click on the prompts as noted above and your state bar allows it). But remember that many state bars require that you watch the Conference "live" and not by archive. If you have CLE questions, send them to cle@thecorporatecounsel.net.

  19. Do I have to watch the Conference live if my state bar allows for online CLE credit for archived programs?
  20. See #4 above. If your state bar allows for online CLE for archived programs - and that state bar doesn't require a "periodic prompt" tracking system - your state bar is essentially a "self study" state bar and we can accommodate you. But remember that many state bars require that you watch the Conference "live" and not by archive - so make sure you know whether your state bar is "self study." If you have CLE questions, send them to cle@thecorporatecounsel.net.
