Frequently Asked Questions:

Basic Memberships (1-5 Users) and All NASPP Memberships

  1. What is my new username?
  2. Your username will be the email address that we have for you in our database. This is the address that we use to send you product information—but it may be different than the email address you registered to receive any of our blogs. If you have tried this email address and are still facing difficulty, would like to change this email address or have any other questions, please call our office at 925.685.5111.

  3. What is my new temporary password?
  4. Your temporary password will be your five digit billing zip code. If you have tried your zip code or do not know this information, please call our office at 925.685.5111. You must change your temporary password when you first login. See #3 below for instructions.

  5. How do I change my password?
  6. Upon your first login (for which you will use your id of your email address and password of your five digit billing zip code), you are required to change your password to a new one that is at least six characters (so you can't keep your five digit billing zip code as your password). You will also be required to select a security question for which you will provide an answer - that will help you retrieve your password in case you forget it.

If you forget or wish to change your password later, simply click on the "Forgot Password" link and follow the instructions. Alternatively, you can call our office at 925.685.5111 for assistance.

  7. Do I need to reset my password or can I just keep the five-digit zip code as my password?
  8. No, you can not keep the zip code. That is the default to prompt a password reset.

  9. What should I do if I forget which security question I used (or the answer to my security question)?
  10. You should call our office at 925-685-5111 and we can tell you that information.

  11. Will I have a different password for each of your websites?
  12. No. In this important change, your password will be consistent across our entire product line (this includes each of the sites listed on each site's homepage).

  13. If I subscribe to more than one of the websites impacted by this change, do I need to change my password for each site that I subscribe to?
  14. No. The first time you log onto any one of our websites, you will reset your password. This will automatically reset your password for all the other of our websites that you subscribe to.

The websites that are impacted by this change include:

    • CompensationStandards.com
    • TheCorporateCounsel.net
    • Naspp.com
    • Section16.net
    • DealLawyers.com
    • InvestorRelationships.com

    •
  15. Why do I need a security question?
  16. Many members requested that we institute this layer of security so that they can rest assured that their password cannot be changed and used by others. Please use your best efforts to keep your password confidential as sharing your password is a violation of our user license.

Single Office Memberships

  1. What is my new username?
  2. Your username will be selected and distributed by the primary account holder at your office. If you have tried this username and are still facing difficulty, would like to change this email address, don't know who the primary account holder is, or have any other questions, please call our office at 925.685.5111.

  3. What is my new password?
  4. If you are the primary account holder (typically a librarian), you should have received an email regarding password selection. If you have not received this email or have any other questions, please contact us at 925.685.5111.

If you are not the primary account holder, you will be receiving a password from your primary account holder. If you have tried this password and are still facing difficulty, don't know who the primary account holder is, or have any other questions, please call our office at 925.685.5111.

  5. How do I change my password?
  6. If you forget or wish to change your password later, simply click on the "Forgot Password" link and follow the instructions. Alternatively, you can call our office at 925.685.5111 for assistance. Keep in mind that changing the password will change the login for everyone who uses your single office membership.

  13. Why do I need a security question?
  14. For single office subscribers, this feature ensures that end-users do not change the shared password. Please use your best efforts to keep your password confidential within your office as sharing your password is a violation of the user license.

Firmwide Memberships

  1. What is my new username or password?
  2. We have migrated our system for firmwide users to take advantage of IP address authentication. As such, your users will no longer utilize a username and password login--all logins will be automatic.

  3. How do I change my IP Address range?
  4. Please contact us at 925.685.5111.

  5. What if I need my end-users to have offsite access?
  6. Most firmwide users provide this access through a link on their intranet after a user logs in via VPN. We are happy to discuss alternatives for your specific situation, please call us at 925.685.5111.

Section 16 Filer

Users of our popular Section 16 Filer software will need to download a new version of the software, available after June 20, in order to continue its use.

To ease the transition, the old version of the filer will remain active until Friday, June 24. After which, only the new version will function.

  1. How do I know if I have the updated version?
  2. The updated version number is 3.7.201. If you are using an older version it will automatically prompt you to upgrade.

  3. How do I get the new version?
  4. Please visit http://www.section16.net/efp after June 20 and follow the instructions for downloading the new software.
